Strange headless beasty

This strange looking headless beasty caught my eye this afternoon as I looked up at the blue sky (rare occurence with al the rain we have been having lately). The building is the Manpower building in Pavement.

Doors within the walls 21 -St Crux Church

Caught early in the morning before the doors were opened. St Crux is just next to Marks and Spencer on The Pavement next to Whip Ma Whop Ma Gate. The church is used regularly for charity jumble sales and coffee mornings.

Marks and Spencers Traffic Jam

The access into Marks and Spencer's loading dock is particularly tight and tricky on the corner of the Shambles and Pavement. Traffic very quickly backs up and jams. More seriously as can be seen in the second photo emergency vehicles can get held up. There is an ambulance with flashing lights trying to get past the reversing lorry. The problem has been made worse by the placing of bollards along the length of Pavement thereby preventing the ambulance from mounting the footway to get past the obstruction.

Queus for a bargain - St Crux Church, Pavement

St Crux church is used by other churches to run jumble sales and coffee mornings. This is the first time I have seen a queus like this for them opening.

Pavement - Another Timbered Building

Yet another example of what I am always advising in York; look at the levels above ground floor to see the most interesting parts of buildings. The Manpower offices above BETFRED are much more interesting than the shop front of the betting shop.

Timber Frame Building - Pavement

I think this building is amazing the way the floor levels curl upwards looking like a smile. It is situated opposite the rear entrance to Marks & Spencer in Pavement.
