Follow The Foss - 2 - Castle Museum Corner to Piccadily

Continue from the corner of the Castle Museum along Tower Street along the side of the Law Courts

Corner of Castle Museum

Tower Street by the Law Courts towards Friargate

Turn right when you can see Clifford's Tower and head towards the Castle Car Park

As you walk across the car park the line of trees mark the line of the river. Head to the left as you reach the trees.

Climbed up the stairs to Clifford's Tower to take this one. It is the view towrds Rowntrees Wharf and the old power station chimney at Morrisons. Rowntree Wharf is anothe former warehouse converted to apartments and to the left you can see new apartments being built at Hungate.

I should be back from Sri Lanka tomorrow barring mishaps. There will be a post as usual though as I intend to use the scheduling facility in Blogger.

Ice factor - Eye of York

For the winter season the Eye of York has been transformed into a skating ring. For those not familiar with York, the Eye is located next to the Castle Museum and Clifford's Tower. This photo was taken from the steps of Clifford's Tower.

Clifford's Tower

This view of Clifford's Tower is probably not the one you will find in the tourist guide books. This view of the tower is from the end of Castlegate by the Hilton Hotel.

Rustique Restaurant - Castlegate

Towards Clifford's Tower end of Castlegate is Rustique Restaurant, although the building does not look too interesting in the photo the windows are of coloured glass. I'll have to see if I can get permission to take some photos inside one day to get the light effect through the coloured glass.

Decaying Building - Piccadily

Not all of York is pristine and well kept, this building in Piccadily just next to the River Foss beside the Coppergate centre is suffering from proposed redevelopment being blocked by various protesters that rightly want the redevelopment to be sensitive to it's surroundings and proximity to Clifford's Tower. So whilst the debate goes on the building is deteriorating in the beleif that it is not worth doing anything with it as it will be demolished sometime.
